The baby lay sleeping in her basket near the fireplace, under the watchful eye of a grey wolf seeming to be asleep beside her. It was a cold Alaska winter night, and the wind was rattling the window at the far end of the room, the rest of the large house was quite and empty.
The baby moaned in her sleep, and turned onto her side. The wolf silently sat up to look upon the child, to see if she was waking, she was not. The wolf stared on, the child was beautiful, even more so than expected. Her curls where as pure white as the snow outside covering the landscape, and her skin was a warm pearly color, sprayed with pale pink freckles. She smiled in her sleep, seeming to have sweet dreams.
The grey wolf cocked it’s head as if hearing some sound. The wolf seem to glance at the grandfather clock, near the door leading to the hallway, and waited. A few minutes later the creaking of a door could be heard coming from another room, with footsteps following the sound. The wolf waited.
A lovely nude women entered the room, her face was covered in blood, and her dark hair was tangled and wet, but she was smiling. The wolf wined softly, and quietly left the room. The women walked over to the basket, leaned over and carefully pulled the cover up over the baby’s body, and caressed her daughters face as she slept.
“Sleep well, my dear Selena” the woman said.
And all was well…..
